In July, an adventurous group of 17 teenagers from Kingsley School, Warwickshire, will take part in the World Challenge and embark on the trip of a lifetime when they travel to South Brazil to help improve the lives of people in remote rural areas. In the past this work has included setting up water supplies and even helping to create an orphanage. 79 Group is delighted to be sponsoring Laura Barlow and helping to raise the money needed to fund the travel, accommodation, camping equipment, food and materials needed for their community project.
79 Group Chairman Nicholas Claridge is cycling 100 miles across Norfolk to raise money for new equipment for children with special needs at Sidestrand School. The school caters for boys and girls, 7 to 16 years, with a range of complex needs including autism, attention deficit hyperactive disorder, speech and communication needs, medical needs, learning difficulties and social and emotional behavioural difficulties. This is the nominated charity for Nicholas’ local pub The White Horse which last year raised £7,500. We want to ensure we at least match the same amount this year through the various events that are being planned. The ride takes place in June and Nicholas is currently training hard.

Alex Claridge (79 Group MD) and Alastair Williams, from our marketing agency markmaking* are embarking on a bike ride of their own. Their challenge is to cycle the length of Wales in just one day, from Colwyn Bay to Oxwich Bay, on a route of 300km negotiating 12,000ft of mountains, hills and valleys (and no doubt a few sheep) along the way. They’re aiming to raise over £5k for the charity Help for Heroes. They may need a little help themselves after this gruelling ride...
