Harrods Gentleman’s Lounge is visited by some of the world’s most distinguished men as a refuge whilst their partners shop in the store above. Highlighting the skincare, fragrance and grooming products on display, whilst maintaining the relaxing ambience of the room, was a challenge set to 79 by Callison Architects. The ceiling and perimeter walls within the area, being listed, could not be modified and still had to be viewed through a uniquely designed glass wall. 79 supplied five feature pendant fittings, each suspended from existing, listed roses, and an LED perimeter lighting system to provide a crisp, yet ambient, light whilst highlighting product with accurate accent lighting.

Each bracelet pendant fitting provided direct and indirect lighting via 8 T5 eco lamps
with the accent lighting provided by 35w cdm-tc Mini Mode Spots on adjustable mountings within the pendants. The pendant bracelet fittings were 5 metres long with suspension rods and couplers being specially designed and manufactured to match the existing listed ceiling roses. The perimeter unit LED lighting was provided via low profile, dimmable high power LED units, providing extremely high luminous efficacy with minimal heat generation and integrated current source to stabilise luminous flux.
In total 79 Lighting supplied over 300 units for the project totaling over 3600 lighting points. If you get the chance to visit the Gentleman’s Lounge you’ll find it looks spectacular.
